Ross Randall

Founder (Finance)

B.COMM, B.COMPT (HONS) CA (SA)


Ross is a chartered accountant by profession. He completed his articles with Deloitte in Johannesburg. He is currently CEO of Ivy Private Equity (www.ivy.co.za).

Ross spent 17 years at Standard Bank in the Private Equity division, co-heading it since 2007 until the asset class was discontinued in 2014. He gained experience in managing small and medium sized businesses through the financial crisis of 2008/9. He sat on a number of investee company boards. He has invested in a number of businesses since leaving the bank.

Charl du Plessis

Founder (Legal)

BA (ECONOMICS) LLB, DIP TAX PRAC, PGC IN ADV COMP LAW I AND II, BUSINESS RESCUE CERTIFICATE

Charl is an admitted and practising attorney, notary and conveyancer with rights of appearance in the High Court.  He completed his articles with Deneys Reitz Attorneys (now Norton-Rose Fulbright) in 1992 and has been practising as a transaction attorney for his own account since 2002.  He presently has offices in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. 

Charl obtained a certificate in Tax Practice from RAU (2002), a diploma in Advanced Company Law I and II (2011) from Wits, a certificate in Business Rescue Practice from UNISA and the South African Law Society (2016) and attended the SAPOA’s Property Development Management Programme at the UCT Graduate School of Business in 1996.

Charl gained turnaround experience in financially distressed companies when he was retained for a period of three years to advise on the turnaround of MGX Holdings Limited and was listed in the Financial Mail’s top 40 M&A advisers for two years. Michael Benjamin

Founder (Operations)

B.COMM (UCT), MBA (Hull, UK), EDP “BUILDING & LEADING CUSTOMER CENTRIC ORGANISATIONS” (HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL, USA)

Michael is a seasoned C-Suite Executive with extensive experience in FMCG & Manufacturing across the African Continent in Multinational organisations and Owner / Entrepreneur businesses.


Michael has spent 17 years with SABMiller and had 9 varied roles within that time. The first 9 years were in South Africa and the last 8 as a global expat director. He gained experience at the market coal face in driving volume and market share in a number of challenging environments and then in later roles leading, shaping & executing strategy in large organisations (>R2bn turnover; > 1,000 employees). A number of international & continental awards in SABMiller bear testimony to Michael’s ability to deliver.


Michael as CEO then spent 3,5 years together with Private Equity Partners acquiring and integrating owner/entrepreneur run beverage businesses to form The Beverage Company which is today the 2nd largest non-alcoholic beverage company in Southern Africa after Coca-Cola.
